What type of steak should you use?

When it comes to the perfect steak, the type of steak you choose will make a big difference in the flavor and texture of the finished product. The best type of steak for this dish is a ribeye or New York Strip steak. While it can be tempting to go for cheaper cuts of meat, using higher-quality cuts will give you a better result.

Look for steaks with a good marbling that will produce juicy, flavorful results. When it comes to thickness, most steaks will be about an inch thick. Steaks that are too thick can be difficult to cook evenly, while those that are too thin are likely to overcook quickly. When searching for the right thickness, look for steaks that are around three-quarters of an inch thick.

How do you cook the perfect steak?

The key to cooking the perfect steak is to start with a hot, clean pan. Heat the pan over medium-high heat until it is hot and add a tablespoon of butter or oil when it starts to smoke. Then, place the steak on the pan and let it cook for four minutes on each side. When it comes to seasoning, salt and pepper is the classic combination. Sprinkle both on both sides of the steak and then more on the exterior for a nice, tasty crust.

Depending on your taste, you can also add other seasonings such as garlic powder, onion powder, and even cumin if you’re feeling adventurous. Once the steak is cooked to your liking, remove it from the pan and let it rest for three to five minutes. This step is important as it allows the steak to retain its juices so it’s more flavorful and juicy.

What temperature should your steak be cooked to?

When it comes to the ideal temperature for steak, it depends on your preference. For steak that’s still a bit pink in the middle, it should be cooked to a temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit. If you prefer your steak to be more well-done, cook it to at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit. There are also different doneness levels in between, so you’re free to experiment until you find the one you like best.

How do you make roasted asparagus?

Roasted asparagus is a delicious and nutritious side dish to serve along with your steak. To make it, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with foil. Then, rinse the asparagus and trim the ends. Toss the asparagus with a tablespoon of olive oil and season with salt and pepper and a bit of minced garlic. Place the asparagus on the baking sheet and roast for 12 to 15 minutes, until the asparagus is cooked but still has a bit of crunch.

How do you make black pepper Dijon sauce?

In the same skillet used to cook the steak; return skillet to medium-high heat. Add cream, Dijon, salt, garlic salt, lemon juice and pepper. Whisk to combine the sauce and bring to a simmer. Cook until heated through and slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat.
