Chicken: For a more flavorful profile I use chicken thighs in this recipe. Chicken breasts and tenderloins are a good substitution. 2-4 in quantity, cut into bite size pieces.

Cornstarch: Just 2 tsp, to coat the chicken.

Butter: 2 tbsp for cooking the chicken.

Oil: 2 tbsp Olive oil. Sesame or sunflower oil is a good alternative.

Garlic: 5 cloves, minced or pressed

Raw Honey: 3 tbsp, more for a stickier glaze.

Apple Cider Vinegar: 1 tbsp, this really adds an even acidity to the dish!

Soy Sauce: 2 tbsp, I prefer low sodium but any is fine.

Parsley: 1 tbsp, chopped. I prefer fresh, but dried is fine!

Seasonings: Garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, ground fennel, salt and pepper to taste.

Chicken: You can substitute thighs for breasts or tenderloins. Just keep an eye on overcooking.

Apple Cider Vinegar can be substituted with lemon or lime juice.

If you want heat, add some red pepper flake or a diced jalapeño!

Switch up the garnishes with sesame seeds or green onions.

Add grated ginger with the garlic for a more authentic flavor.

If you like it realllly saucey, or want extra for rice, you can easily double the sauce recipe.

Storing and Reheating Honey Garlic Chicken:

To store in the fridge: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. If you’ve made a lot, I recommend portioning out the rest for meal prepping lunches and dinners throughout the week.

To reheat: If you’re only heating up a small portion, pop it in the microwave or air fryer. You may need to thin out the sauce with a splash of water as it will continue to thicken the longer it sits. You can also reheat it on the stovetop over medium heat until warmed through. Another alternative is 10 minutes in a baking dish at 350 F.
