Ingredients

  • 10 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 10 oz white chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candies

Instructions

  • Melt the dark chocolate using a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
  • Add peppermint extract to the melted dark chocolate and mix well.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the melted dark chocolate onto the parchment paper and spread it into an even layer using a spatula.
  • Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes or until the dark chocolate layer is set.
  • Melt the white chocolate using the same method, ensuring it is smooth and free of lumps.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the refrigerator. Pour the melted white chocolate over the dark chocolate layer, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle crushed candy canes or peppermint candies over the white chocolate layer, pressing them down slightly.
  • Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for an additional 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the bark is completely set.
  • Once set, remove the bark from the refrigerator and break it into bite-sized pieces.
  • Arrange the White and Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark on a festive platter and savor the delightful combination of flavors.

Notes

  • Experiment with different types of chocolate, such as mint-flavored dark chocolate or flavored white chocolate, to add a unique twist to your bark.
  • Get creative with toppings – try adding crushed nuts, dried fruit, or drizzling additional melted chocolate for an extra touch of elegance.
  • Store the peppermint bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
  • This bark makes a wonderful homemade gift during the holiday season. Package it in festive boxes or bags and share the joy with friends and family.
